At the end of the day, this is about more than an award. It’s about keeping our culture alive, honoring the women who came before us, and making sure these girls grow up just as proud — and just as loud — as we did.

BRACIOLE!

If you know anything about growing up Italian-American, then you know it’s more than just where you’re from — it’s who you are. It’s loud, it’s loving, it’s rooted in tradition, and it’s built on the strength of the women who came before us.

As an Italian-American girl growing up in Brooklyn, my heritage played a meaningful role in shaping who I am today. Some of my most treasured memories are the Sundays spent with my family — gathered around the table, sharing food, stories, laughter, and traditions that had been passed down. Those moments taught me that culture is not only something we inherit, but something we express through creativity, family, and community. Whether it is through cooking, storytelling, art, language, or the traditions we carry forward, our heritage becomes part of how we see the world.

I created this award because I wanted to honor that spirit and give back in a way that truly means something to me. Now, as a mom of two girls and with a background in childhood education, that purpose feels even deeper. I see how important it is to uplift and encourage young girls as they grow into who they are meant to be — especially those who remind me of myself growing up, full of personality, pride, and passion.

My hope is that this award encourages the next generation to remain connected to their roots, cherish the traditions that shaped them, and continue sharing the beauty of their culture with pride in their own unique and creative way.

Because sometimes the most important lessons about who we are begin around the family table on a Sunday afternoon.
